The DACA Program Is In Danger From The Trump Administration

The DACA program is under attack from GOP extremist members. DACA works with youths without documentation, provided they have the correct prerequisites. They can stop them from being deported, provide a social security number, and give them the opportunity for employment within the United States. The program is based on a two-year renewal, and in many cases a driver’s license can be acquired.

The Trump administration received a letter from Ken Paxton, the Attorney General of Texas. The letter threatened legal action if the DACA program was not rescinded. This would be in the form of a phasing out, not an instant termination. Future renewals would not be available. The Hispanic Caucus, and John Kelly joined forces in a meeting to discuss to the 800,000 people now in jeopardy.

The DACA program has been operation for five years, and the benefits are clear. The participants invest in educating themselves, pay taxes, purchase vehicles, and homes, and contribute to learning institutions. The program is accomplishing their goals. The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is supplying assistance, guidance, and information in the battle to save DACA with a permanent solution.

DACA is an abbreviation for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. This is an American policy regarding the immigration of people who have entered the country while still minors. Some of these minors have entered, or remained in the United States illegally, and DACA helps them build their lives with the availability of a two-year program. The participants in the program are called Dreamers, and numbered 800,000 as of 2017. The Obama administration established the policy in June of 2012, and the Trump administration rescinded the policy in September of 2017.

The Frontera Fund was established by Michael Lacey, and Jim Larkins. The fund works with organizations to preserve, and fight for civil rights, and the rights of migrant workers.
