PhD Managing Partner Scott Rocklage

Scott Rocklage is a PhD who is currently the Venture Managing Partner of 5Am Ventures. He attained this position in the company in the year 2004 and has been able to establish key leadership for 5AM Ventures.

This has allowed the company to reach a number of its various goals as well as having stability at one of the most important positions in any company.

What has set Scott apart from other executives is his experience. He has spent over three decades as a manager in the healthcare industry. During his career as a manager in the healthcare industry, he has provided strategic leadership that has led to the approval of three U.S. New Drug Applications. Rocklage helped get FDA approval for the drugs known as Omniscan, Teslascan and Cubicin. Along with introducing these drugs, he has also entered a number of clinical trials for other drugs as well.

Prior to becoming the Managing Partner of 5AM Ventures, Scott served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cubist Pharmaceuticals. He also served as the President and CEO of Nycomed Salutar as well. Along with these positions, Rockalge held a number of positions at Salutar and Catalytica.

During his career, Scott served as the Board Chairman of another company known as Relypsa and Novira. At these positions, Scott has been able to provide quality leadership as well as expertise.

Along with being the Managing Partner of 5AM Ventures, Scott is currently serving as the Board Chairman of another company known as Rennovia, Kinestral and Cidara.

Another company he works for is Epirus where he is serving on the Board. Prior to holding this position, Scott served as the Executive Chairman of Ilypsa, Milkana and Semprus.

Before he began his career in the healthcare industry, Scott complted a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of California Berkeley and received his PhD in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During his stint as a graduate student, he helped conduct research for Nobel Prize winning chemist Richard Schrock.
